WHY DO I INSIST ON CONDUCTING FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES?

The pandemic has been over for several years now. Occasionally, when I look back on my life and work during the pandemic, I still feel that it was a very special period. About a month after the country implemented the Movement Control Order (MCO), FSQ began allowing FHC schools to conduct online Food Handlers Training Courses.  At that time, I started learning how to use ZOOM and began using Google Forms more frequently. To comply with FSQ's requirements for online courses, I spent a lot of time studying and adjusting my course procedures. I not only had to become familiar with the technology, but also had to ensure that students followed the rules for online classes.

Some students were curious and interested in online learning, while others did not like this way of learning. Of course, there were also some students who wanted to “take it easy” in front of the camera.  However, during that special period, we did not have many choices.  Food Handlers Training Courses had to continue, and online classes became the main way of conducting the courses.  I also once received a final warning from FSQ because of some oversights in enforcing the requirements for online classes. My school even came close to being removed from the list.  At that time, all I could do was just carry on.

After several years of practice, I can now arrange and conduct every online class much more comfortably.  But gradually, I noticed something interesting.  Even students who live in the same city as me sometimes prefer to attend an online class rather than come to a face-to-face class.  I thought about this for quite some time. Eventually, I realised that online classes do have their advantages:

  1. There is no need to travel. Students can complete the three-hour course comfortably from home.
  2. Students from other areas can also attend.
  3. Class schedules are easier to arrange. As long as students know when they are available — morning, afternoon or evening — I can arrange a class accordingly.

To be honest, I like online classes too.  They are convenient and can also help reduce some of the costs of conducting a class. But I still insist on conducting face-to-face classes. Why?  The interaction in a Face-to-Face Classroom is different!  2 days ago, I conducted a face-to-face class at a training room provided by one of my customers.  During those three hours, everyone learned and interacted with one another.  In the classroom, I try my best to get students involved.  For example, I let them experienced what food handlers are expected to wear, ask questions for them to think about, encourage them to ask questions, and allow them to share their own work experiences with one another.  When explaining each food hygiene requirement, I also try my best to explain:  “Why do we have to do it this way?” Rather than simply telling them:  “Because the regulations say so.”.  I believe that when students understand the reason behind a particular practice, they are more likely to bring that knowledge back to their workplace.  This kind of classroom atmosphere, in my opinion, is difficult to fully copied in online class.

Online classes can sometimes have network problems. There may also be times when the trainer has to deal with students' devices, cameras, microphones and classroom discipline.  When the trainer has to deal with these issues at the same time, naturally there is less time available for interaction and discussion.  If a student happens to have an unstable internet connection, the three-hour learning experience can also become quite tiring.  I especially recommend Face-to-Face Classes for students who are not familiar with Online Tools

They are people who are not familiar with computers or online tools.  If someone rarely uses the internet on their phone and does not often use applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook or YouTube, asking them to independently register for an online class, fill in a Google Form, join ZOOM, turn on their camera, adjust their microphone and so on can indeed become a burden.  Unless they have a family member, colleague or friend beside them to help during the class.  Otherwise, before they even begin learning about food hygiene, they may already have spent a lot of energy trying to figure out “how to attend the class.”  That is not the learning experience we want.  In contrast, when students come to a face-to-face classroom, all they need to do is:  Show up, sit down and learn.  The rest can be handled by the trainer. This can actually be a much more comfortable way to learn.  When people are relaxed, they are more likely to concentrate and participate in classroom discussions.

There is another thing that I have always treasured.  A face-to-face classroom allows people to connect with one another.  About seven years ago, one of my customers voluntarily helped me find students and even arranged some hot drinks and bread.  After the class, everyone sat together, ate, drank and chatted while sharing their work experiences.  The atmosphere was wonderful. Unfortunately, this kind of interaction stopped when the COVID-19 pandemic began.  This March, I was fortunate enough to receive an opportunity to conduct training for about 60 employees.

In a classroom that could accommodate around 30 people, I designed some interactive activities so that everyone could get to know one another, interact and learn together.  After three hours, everyone had a great time.  For me, this is also an important part of face-to-face learning.

I have always believed that the purpose of learning is to increase knowledge and enable students to apply what they have learned in their workplace.  It is neither about learning how to use ZOOM nor is it simply about getting a certificate.  The real value of the Food Handlers Training Course is to help food handlers understand the importance of food hygiene and food safety, and to bring correct food handling practices back to their workplace.  That is the reason why I continue to insist on conducting face-to-face classes.

Online classes have their own value.  But if you are not familiar with online tools, prefer more interaction in the classroom, or simply enjoy learning face-to-face, I would honestly tell you:  A face-to-face class may be more suitable for you.

WHAT IS FOOD HANDLER TRAINING COURSE?

Whenever customers consult me about the courses I teach, the most common name I heard is Kursus Kendalian Makanan... 卫生课, 卫生牌, etc. In fact, the official name of the course is Kursus Latihan Pengendali Makanan (LPM).  The name is a bit long, so let's simply refer to it as LPM. As the name suggests, this course is an awareness program designed by the Health Department for food handlers. Most customers understand that anyone in Malaysia working in the food business must attend this 3-hour course and obtain a certificate, or risk being fined. Therefore, from time to time, I received inquiries like:

"Can we take a shortcut? Can I skip the class, or have someone else attend on my behalf, and you just issue me the certificate?

According to Regulation 30 of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009, all food handlers must attend the Food Handler Training Course and obtain a certificate. Violators can be fined up to RM10,000 or imprisoned for up to two years. When health officers inspect food premises, they will definitely check whether all food handlers hold this certificate. So, is the value of this course merely a document for officers to inspect? Absolutely not! There are several benefits you might not have noticed yet.

New employees, especially those who have never worked in a food establishment, may feel uncertain about food handling tasks. Let's think about where they typically learn how to handle food:

  • Probably they learn from movies
  • Probably they learn from parents or elders (if their family business is/was in the F&B industry)
  • Probably they learn from watching other F&B employees
  • From bosses, superiors, or senior colleagues
  • or based on their own assumptions (because "that's how mom does it at home")

Attending the LPM course allows employees to understand the basic requirements for keeping food clean and safe, which are also necessary knowledge for complying with Ministry of Health regulations. After taking this course, food handlers can independently check whether their daily operations are correct. Moreover, employees who are willing to honestly sit through a 3-hour class literally show a the willingness to work in a food establishment.

Therefore, bosses can use this opportunity to test whether new employees are truly willing to work in the food sector. I once had an employee who, even after attending my class, continued to wear nail polish and heavy makeup to work over the following days. The boss was baffled, thinking I had given the wrong advice, and asked me to have a conversation with his staff. When guide them, I found out that this employee didn't misunderstand what I taught—she simply lacked the mindset to be a competent food handler. I also learned that their previous job was working as a front-desk receptionist in heels and full makeup.  After that session, not long ago, I heard they quit their job.

A leader once told me: "It's great that our QA (Quality Assurance) team is rigorous, but if we can cultivate everyone as a QC, then we won't have to worry about food safety." Everyone is a valuable asset to the company and can help safeguard food hygiene and safety. Therefore, training is an indispensable part of any business. Through this course, employees not only learn food handling concepts and comply with Ministry of Health regulations, but they also obtain a permanent certificate that is valid nationwide. One stone kills 3 birds eh?

Students will learn the following in class:

  • Personal hygiene, especially when handling food
  • How to select qualified tools, keep them clean, and use them properly
  • How to maintain hygiene inside and outside food premises and control pests
  • How to select save raw food, along with proper handling and storage methods
  • How to produce/prepare safe food
  • How to handle cooked food... and more.

Look at these contents.  If we were to cover everything in detail, I feel 3 hours of teaching is barely enough. However, just give me three hours!

Some bosses have asked: "Do bosses need to take the class? Surely not, right?"

I believe that if you are in management, you need to understand the correct concepts of food handling even more. Once you understand this course, you can supervise whether your employees are doing things right. This way, if a problem is found, it can be corrected immediately rather than waiting for health officers to inspect and discover operational errors.

Even though employees have completed the 3-hour course and get high score in the tests, it does not mean they have "graduated" or are ready to "take charge." NO! After taking the class, food handlers need practice and must cultivate good habits; they must not only do the job right, but also do it skillfully. At this point, if management exercises strict control, the food safety standards of the establishment will gradually improve, and a culture of maintaining food safety will eventually form.

Regulations state that everyone handling food in an establishment must take this course. I believe management, especially business licensees, should take the class so they can easily supervise the work of food handlers. Furthermore, applications for various food licenses—such as canteen tenders, MeSTI (processing plants), BeSS (restaurants), and Home-based Food enterprises—all require the licensee to hold a Food Handler Training Course certificate.

In recent years, I have noticed that the Food Handler Training Course has gradually become even more crucial. Many major cities have begun implementing policies where a primary condition for supplying local food products to government sectors is having certification. To obtain that certification, all food handlers must possess LPM certificate.

It may seem like this course is merely an "entry ticket" to getting certified, but let's think about this: if your employees realised the importance of food hygiene and food safety and started to practise accordingly after attending the training, they will surely be able to help you take great care of your food business.  Do you agree? Welcome to share your thoughts in the comments section.

THE 5 MOST COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT FOOD SAFETY TRAINING (A MUST-READ FOR FOOD BUSINESS OWNERS)

Many food business owners (FBOs) only start learning about the Food Handler Training Course (FHC) after a premise inspection. They know their workers must have an attendance certificate and that a 3-hour course is required.  However, along the way, many misunderstandings arise.  Here are five of the most common misconceptions about FHC—and why they matter.

1. “Attending the course is only for getting a certificate.”

After completing the 3-hour FHC, participants receive both softcopy and hardcopy certificates. The certificate is valid for life and recognised nationwide. It also fulfils Regulation 30 of the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.  This is the main reason owners send their staff to the training.  However, the course value goes far beyond the certificate.  Food handlers learn actual practices that Health Inspectors check during inspections. The purpose is not only to know the practices but to apply them daily.

Proper food handling must become a habit, so that when officers conduct a surprise inspection, your team can perform confidently—not panic.

2. “Only employees need to attend the course.”

Many owners think training is only for their workers.  But it is highly advisable for owners and managers to attend too.  When bosses understand the practices, they can guide their team, conduct mini-audits anytime, and ensure their outlet consistently complies with regulations.  A trained owner = a stronger food safety culture.

3. “After attending FHC, food handlers are ‘graduated’.”

Some food handlers think they just need to sit in class, pass the quizzes, and they’re done.   But the real test is not in the classroom.  The real test is during actual premise inspections.  Food handlers must understand and apply what they learned—every day.

Returning to old habits after training defeats the purpose of attending.

4. “There will be no penalties after attending FHC.”

Attending FHC is only one requirement under the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.

There are more than 30 other regulatory requirements that FBOs and food handlers must comply with. FHC introduces these basics so everyone knows what inspectors look for.  So, attending FHC does not “protect” a premise on its own.  Compliance must also be seen in daily operations.

5. “The certificate can be bought.”

Yes, there are still people asking if FHC certificates can be purchased.  The answer is a strict and absolute NO.  Training is compulsory because every food handler must learn proper food handling and apply it in real operations. The course exists to protect public safety—not to issue papers.  My FHC classes are flexible:

  • Online or physical
  • Malay or Mandarin
  • Various dates and times

This training is also a screening tool.  Owners can observe whether a new hire has the right attitude for the job.

Final Thoughts

Training equips your team with the right skills and knowledge to run your business smoothly and in line with your vision.  Every training—especially FHC—deserves appreciation because it strengthens your team's competency and protects your business.

5 POWERFUL REASONS YOUR FOOD HANDLES MUST TAKE THE FOOD HANDLER COURSE (FHC) — OR YOUR BUSINESS RISKS RM10,000 FINE

Hiring the right people for your food business is important — good attitude, hardworking, responsible, and able to work long hours. But even the best staff cannot protect your business if they lack proper food safety knowledge.

That’s why the Food Handler Course (FHC) is not just a “nice to have”.
It is the first and most essential training every food handler in Malaysia must take.

Here are 5 powerful reasons why your team must complete FHC — and how this one course can protect your business, your customers, and your reputation.

1. It’s the Law: Avoid RM10,000 Fine or Imprisonment

According to Regulation 30, Food Hygiene Regulations 2009, every food handler in Malaysia must:

  • Attend a Food Handler Course (FHC)
  • Obtain the attendance certificate before starting work

Failing to do so may result in:

  • ❌ Fine not exceeding RM10,000, or
  • ❌ Imprisonment up to 2 years

Besides meeting legal requirements, FHC teaches staff the exact hygiene practices that Health Inspectors check during premise inspections.

For example, food handlers will learn:

  • Food must be stored 20 cm above the floor and 15 cm away from the wall

Ignoring simple requirements like this can cause the business owner to be fined during inspection — something easily avoided when staff are properly trained.

2. Prevent Food Poisoning & Protect Your Customers

Food handlers are the first line of defence against food contamination.

In FHC, they learn essential practices such as:

  • Wearing proper attire
  • Keeping fingernails short
  • Avoiding accessories
  • Practising the 7-step handwashing method
  • Not handling food when sick
  • Preventing cross-contamination
  • Safe food storage & temperature control

When these habits become part of daily routine, the risk of food poisoning drops dramatically.

This doesn’t just protect customers —
it protects your business from complaints, bad reviews, and legal consequences.

3. Elevate Your Business Image & Build Customer Trust

Your food handlers represent your brand — whether they work:

  • On stage (dining area), or
  • Backstage (kitchen/food preparation area)

Trained food handlers create a positive impression:

  • They look professional
  • They work cleanly
  • They follow proper hygiene procedures
  • They handle food confidently

Customers notice these things.

o   A clean, well-organised environment naturally attracts repeat customers and retains loyal ones.

o   Your business reputation grows when customers feel safe eating your food.

4. Essential for Food Safety Certifications & Business Licenses

FHC certificates are required for many applications in Malaysia’s food industry, including:

  • Homebased Food (home-based food business)
  • BeSS (restaurant)
  • Trust MyCatering (catering)
  • MeSTI (Food Processors)
  • GMP (Food Processors)
  • HACCP (Food Processors)
  • Export Establishment (Food Processors)
  • School canteen tender
  • Restaurant / cafeteria business licence

Auditors and municipal officers will check every staff member’s certificate.
Missing FHC certificates can delay approval or cause the application to fail.

In other words:
FHC is not optional —
it is a mandatory document for almost all food business approvals in Malaysia.

5. FHC as a Recruitment Screening Tool (Real Case Story)

Here is a true story from one of my loyal clients.

He hired a new staff member who looked promising:
smart, polite, and hardworking.

He sent the new recruit to my FHC class.

The next day, the boss realised something was wrong:

Despite learning the correct food handling practices,
the new staff did the opposite:

  • Wore accessories
  • Applied nail polish
  • Kept long fingernails
  • Ignored hygiene instructions

The boss thought I taught the wrong things — so I personally “interviewed” the staff again.
She admitted she understood everything taught in class,
but still decided not to follow proper hygiene.

Even after reminders, she continued the same behaviour.

Eventually, the boss terminated her employment.

The lesson?

Requesting staff to attend FHC can reveal:

  • Their true attitude
  • Their willingness to follow rules
  • Their suitability for long-term employment

It’s better to find out early than after confirmation.

FHC Certificate: A Lifetime Licence in the Food Industry

The FHC certificate is:

  • Valid for life
  • Accepted nationwide
  • Recognised by Health departments
  • As important as your “IC” in the food industry

No renewal required.
One course, lifelong use.

So why not get certified?

IS ONLINE OR ON-SITE FOOD HANDLERS TRAINING COURSE MORE SUITABLE FOR YOU?

My Online Food Handling Course (FHC) schedule falls on every Monday & Thursday. However, my customers can request to register the course of another day. This is the flexibility I offered to my customers. With that, they can actually attend the course without clashing with their business or working time.

On-site class on the other hand, may not be so flexible. First, customers need to abide to the set appointment and they have to arrive the set venue at the set time.  Due to FOSIM system upgrading several years ago, we need to apply the certificate number only after the class.  If students would like to receive certificates from us in the class, they need to wait for us to generate the certificates.  Whereas in online, participants just need to attend the class at their place with a laptop or smart phone, and I will courier the certificate to them the next day (at my cost). Online class is very convenient to us as we save travel cost. And, students can attend at their comfort.

Many Food Business Owners like my online class.  I guess most probably because of its convenience.  First, the training date and time could be negotiated.  For instance, if customer likes to register his / her food handlers to attend course at Tuesday as this day is their off-day, I could change the course date to Tuesday, about 1 week earlier.  After the students had registered the course, I will share You Tube video about how to get ready to attend my online class to them.  Some students watched this you tube before the class, and I noticed that student who appreciate the learning opportunity would know what to do in the class, and they will finish the class with good results.

I think the most challenging requirement of the ZOOM class for students is that they have to focus on the screen from the beginning of the class until finish.  They have to switch on the video all the time.  The entire teaching will be recorded and I will sent ZOOM recording to Health Dept for assessment.  As a trainer, I have the responsibility to make sure all students to focus the entire course. So, certain situations like student smoking, talking and laughing on other matters, turning off ZOOM video in ZOOM class, attending ZOOM class in vehicle and suddenly leaving the ZOOM screen are definitely unacceptable.  Students who didn’t understand the class rules (in fact it has been stated in the registration form) did gave me a big head ache…I had a very bad experience before. Due to some students’ non-compliance, it took me 6 hours to accomplish a 3-hours class! That was a very terrible experience. All of us are fatigue and some students gave bad evaluation on my teaching.   After several times of tolerance, I decided to remove students who didn’t complying class rule from my ZOOM class. May be some customers are not happy about it but I am sorry to explain that I have to follow the rules too.

Some students encountered line disruptions problem in ZOOM class.  Sometimes it’s because the location which student sits does not have window.    And, sometimes it’s the Telco line problem.  On 2020, I was conducting an online course for only one student who join ZOOM class in inland of Sabah.  We are having line disruption many times and that’s is disturbing. That was because of location and the student cannot attend on-site class too. But, thanks GOD we finally managed to complete the class. I also found some students have problem with the device. Some devices, perhaps still in old version system, resulting the ZOOM not working smoothly.  Well, after several years of online class experience, I probably know that students with these technical problems would not be able to attend online course smoothly. So each time when I see these problems, I would advise students to attend my next class when they are ready. It’s not their fault of course but they are just not ready this time.

Some students refuse to attend ZOOM class because they claimed that they are not a technology fan. In 2023, a customer told me that his food handlers do not know how to use ZOOM because they are non-educated.  Well, to confront this challenge, I then arranged an on-site course at his place. When I start showing the food handlers how to access Quizzes (for answering test), the food handlers enjoyed that very much.   Over the years, from my discovery, the wills to attend ZOOM class is very much depending on the student’s willingness to learn.  I had a 70++ years old student on early 2023.  She is not a technology-savvy. And yet she registered my class, she often asked me the know-how from the registration of the course until the end of class. Guess what, she is able to follow the entire online course and answer the tests correctly!  Not only that, she said she enjoy the online class and even gave me a good credit in my google testimony.  I have another OKU student last few months.  His mother is very worry that he cannot follow the class well.  But again, with my explanation, this boy able to focus in class, completing the course and even getting good marks for all the tests.  So, I believe that if students keen to learn, they will find the online course convenience and enjoyable.

However, if students really do not enjoy online class, I am actually can conduct on-site class. Currently, I set my on-site class at the first Saturday of every month in my school. I had opened this for registration all the time.  If there are at least 10 students, I will confirm the class.  For physical class, students are just need to bring their smartphone! Yes! Students would answer the tests using their smartphone. Trust me, its gonna be fun!  I wish to conduct on-site classes at main cities in Sabah, like 2019.  If you have a group of food handlers who need to attend course, please feel free to contact me.  If you wish to join Food Handlers Training Course with your 20-30 friends that you have a idle chit chat when there is free time or during the waiting time of certificates, on-site class is your best choice.

I enjoy delivering knowledge to students. I felt glad to see students able to answer questions correctly and give positive testimonies.  However, I always inform students in the class that marks are not so important here. But, practise YES.  Students should practise the food handling knowledge and build good habits in their workspace.

CAN MY WORKERS START WORKING AFTER ATTENDING FHC?

When my customers, who is also a food business owner call to register their food handlers to attend Food Handlers Training course (FHC), I used to share my other blog about the essential documents food business owners needs to have when they want to run a food business in Malaysia.  These documents are as a proof that they had comply certain requirements in Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.  However, there is another question arise when they comply these requirement -  Would food handlers handling food correctly after they attending FHC?

I always tell students in the beginning of the course that they would receive many information about food hygiene and food safety practice in the 3 hours course.  And, I encourage them to practice the knowledge in the workplace so that they can remember the concept and skills and eventually make the practices a habit.   If they do not do that, it is likely they will forget more than 75% of the course content.   For now, food handlers are just need to attend the course once in a life time. They do not need to go through a refreshing training.  So, if food handlers practice the food handling knowledge, they would improve and maintain the correct food handling practice.

Last 2 months, I had organized a practical food handling course for FREE. I invited my regular customers to attend the course. Although the response is not up to my expectation, I did it as I need to record the course for my HRD Corp Trainer assessment. There were several representatives from Amber Park Porridge Café and a retiree attending the course.  I am taking this opportunity to appreciate their supports in the course.  In the course, I design several activities for students to refresh on what they learned from me before. I was really happy when they still remember the correct food handling practice.  Some of them attended my course 3 years ago and yet they still remember the course content.

When food handlers understand the importance of food hygiene and food safety, and they practice it, day by day, they are actually building a habit and this help them automatically preventing their customers from suffering of food poisoning. And, they would attend future premise inspection confidently, as they know what should they do and what shouldn’t they do while handling food.

Well, what is the importance of getting your food handlers to maintain the correct food handling practice, from the aspect of business? Imagine when your food handlers concern about food hygiene and safety, they will make sure the handling does not cause food contamination and to prevent your customers from suffering food poisoning. With that, did you noticed that your food handler team is actually taking care of your business?   So, food handlers must have a strong foundation of food handling practice. And, this couldn’t be achieved by only attending a course.

One of the requirements of MeSTI holder is that every food handler must has a attendance certificate of Food Handlers Training Course.  The QC team, not only to arrange all new food handlers to attend the course, but they also design and organise internal training for every food handler. This is to ensure every food handler to have refreshing training so that they can always remember the correct way of handling their food products.

Some restaurant management team remind their food handlers about correct food handling by gathering the team in a weekly meeting, where they discuss various of circumstances and issues the food handlers team encounter daily.  And the team has mutual agreement of new job arrangement in the meeting.  There are also restaurants utilise checklist to check if certain practices are done.  For example, the cleaning checking in toilet.  This is also another good reminder for the food handler team to remember their responsibility to ensure hygiene.  MeSTI certifited food factory is practicing the checklist system intensively. They need to keep the checklist as the proof during audits or when there is a need to retrieve food inspection data.

Therefore, practicing the knowledge of FHC content would gradually improving the food handling skills of food handlers and maintain the food hygiene and safety in food premise.

12 FAQs ABOUT FOOD HANDLERS TRAINING (ONLINE) COURSE

Since MCO at 2000, I had switched our Food Handling course’s training mode to ONLINE training. Thanks to Food Safety Division of Malaysia Ministry of Health to introduce online class method for food handlers in Malaysia.

When we were given greenlight to conduct ONLINE course, I was so excited to make preparations for the new training method. I learned about ZOOM applications and subscribe it, I learned to prepare the course quizzes, tests, and application forms with google form. It was cool and I can’t wait to start the ONLINE course as soon as possible.

In my first online course, I remembered the officer gave me a good grade in his evaluations. However, after sometimes, I faced several challenges such as students are unable to focus on the slides, the students’ Telco lines are poor and sometimes I can’t conduct enough hours. The officer shown me the non-compliances while they do spot checking and when they checking on the recorded ZOOM training. They gave me a few warning letters about the non-compliances. And, I remember there is a final warning letter stating that if I repeat the same problem, my school will be delisted from the Food Handlers Training School listing! However, due to the ONLINE course is my only choice of business during MCO, I overcome them one by one. Eventually, I know how to deal with it and I am loving it, pretty much.

I enjoyed amending the online course operations in these 2-3 years to suits customer’s and the whole operation’s needs. Today, some of my clients keen on attending my ONLINE course, even I had started to organize FTF course.
The registration is pretty simple. When you want to register class, click on the link I give, you will see application forms in 3 languages, click on anyone of them (that you are comfortable to read with), pick a course date, key in your (teams) details, check the class rules and submit. That’s it!

After I check your submission, I will send you / each of your team member a confirmation messages with a You Tube video, which showing how to download the ZOOM application. After I check your (team’s) detail, I will require you to make payment on the course fee. After receiving the payment, I will invite every participant to join my whatsapp group. In the whatsapp group, I will send another You Tube video to brief your roles when attending our class. A day before the ONLINE class, I will confirm your name and document no with you. And, I will send a ZOOM link in the group.

All you need to do during the course day, is just to click on the ZOOM link 15 minutes before the class started. Once you are in, just focus on the slides and following instructions until the class ended. That’s it!

After the course, I will key in the course details at a MOH’s website and apply certificate no for each student. I was then printing certificates, put them in envelope and arrange to deliver them to my students. Do my students need to pay the courier fee? Don’t worry, I will bear the cost!

The followings are the FAQs based on the questions I received from day 1 of my ONLINE class til today. Do have a look. May be it’ll helps.

Q1. How much is the ONLINE class’s fee? Is it the same as usual?
A1. Yes. RM50 per person only.

Q2. How and when to make payment ?
A2. You may initiate bank transfer to our company's account the latest a day before the course day.

Q3. When and how could I receive the course attendance certificate?

***If you are students of Asiana Hospitality Academy, I will courier to the college.

Q4. Who can join this course?
A4 All food handlers who is bearing IC, passport and IMM13.

Q5. When is your next class?
A5. We are updating our class schedule in here almost every 3 days. You may check in here anytime. Do bookmark the link in your device. You may need it someday.

Q6. I do not know how to attend ONLINE course. How is it?
A6: No worries. After you register with us, you will be sent You Tube videos to show the know-how. Just follow the steps and you will attend the course comfortable. If you do not have ONLINE course experience yet, I encourage you to try. You will love it!

Q7: I / my staff do not familiar with online stuff / the HP is old version / does not have HP. I think ONLINE class does not suits me / my staff. Do you have FTF class?

A7: Yes, I am organizing FTF class in Tawau once a month. If you are outside Tawau but in Sabah’s city / town like Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna etc, you may request me to organize a class at your place with a condition that you have minimum 20 students. If you had the enough number of students, welcome to call me at 013 836 5247.

If you do not have the number, and you really can’t do ONLINE course, you still can arrange another staff / friend / family member to assist the student during the ONLINE class. Anyway, I strongly recommend you to learn about attending the ONLINE course. It’s so convenient and fun (you can check the testimonial in my application form). I want to share with you an experience that make me proud. I have a student at the age of 70, who has zero knowledge about ZOOM. She insist to learn by herself and she is able to access my ZOOM class based on my guidance before the class. If she can do it, I believe you can do it too!

Q8: What should I prepare before I attend the class?
A8: Yes, please refer to the rules (photo above). And, please download the class notes. You will need it while attending the course.

Q9. I attended this course before but I lost my certificate / my certificate is burnt. Is it possible for me to have the certificate again?
A9. If you attended my class, I will have your record. We can reprint the certificate for you. With that, we need your signature on a re-application letter of certificate. The fee is RM25.00. If you were not my student, you need to apply with the school which you attended before. Otherwise, you need to re-attend the course.

Actually, it is good to re-attend the course so that you / your team member can have refreshing training.

Q10. I had registered your class but unfortunately, I have an emergency on the course day. May I send a representative to attend?
A10: I am sorry. You cannot do so. You may attend in my next class at no extra charge. If your whole team cannot attend the pre-arrange class. You may suggest another date and time. Give me about 3 days allowance for me to apply a class.

Q11: May we share a HP to attend course?
A11: Sorry, the answer is NO. Each person should have their own device (Smartphone, iPAD or computer) to attend the course.

Q12: I find none of the course date and time combinations is suitable for me / us, is there any other date / time?
A12: You may suggest a date and time other then those date and time combination, if your side has more than 6 persons. I will check if I can arrange an additional class. Anyway, if your side has less than 6 persons (to join the class), please follow my schedule or give me a week’s time to recruit students.

To register a new class, I need at least 3 days from the day we both confirm the class date.

Our March 2020 Classes

We would like to express our appreciation to our clients in this month.

Our planned classes are cancelled after our prime minister announced the 14-days movement restriction.  For the sake of safety measures to ourselves and our clients, we decided to obey the announcement.

Hopefully the COVID-19 incident could be controlled and reduced. And we hope to provide training again soon.

Stay with us and we will publish April 2020 schedule soon.

Thank you.
